Joe grew up in Indianola and attended Simpson College, acquiring an undergraduate degree in Political Science in 2009. While at Simpson College,  Joe was active in Simpson College Greek Life as a member of Alpha Tau Omega, and also serving as the President of Simpson’s Intrafraternal Council. During his senior year at Simpson, Joe had the privilege of interning in Washington D.C. with the Oversight and Investigations Branch of the Senate Finance Committee, which was chaired by Senator Charles Grassley.

Upon graduating from Simpson College, Joe enrolled at the University of Iowa College of Law. During his time in law school, Joe was active in many activities and organizations, but was primarily involved as the Senior Note Editor of the Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems. His Note, “The Grass is Always Greener: A Look at Educational Reform in Japan and the United States” was published by the Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems in 2012.

After law school, Joe began practicing as an attorney for the Youth Law Center in Des Moines. In this role, Joe represented minors in Child in Need of Assistance and delinquency proceedings, zealously representing and defending the rights of minor children.

In January 2015, Joe joined the firm as an associate and in February 2016 became a partner. He currently focuses his practice on estate planning, probate, real estate and corporate/business law. He has established several estate plans, ranging from basic Last Will and Testaments to complex trusts, and has represented clients in the sale of their homes and businesses. He prides himself on providing simple and concise advice to his clients, no matter the complexity of their legal issue.

Joe lives in Indianola with his wife Stacy and four children, Norah, Reid, Molly and Brenna. Outside of the office, Joe enjoys staying involved with Simpson College and watching his favorite teams, the Iowa State Cyclones and the Chicago Cubs.
